How are orthopedic conditions treated in my pet?

Our team may recommend surgery, physical rehabilitation, home exercise or oral medications to ease the pain. It all depends on your pet’s specific situation.

Do you offer TPLO surgery?

Yes. TPLO is short for tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy. It’s a procedure done on pets (mainly dogs) to repair torn ligaments or joints in their knees caused by injury, arthritis or genetic predisposition. It is a complex procedure where the veterinarian cuts, rotates and repositions the bones using screws. Other treatments like supplements, weight loss and acupuncture can be prescribed alongside the surgery, but it is the main way to treat pets with this kind of condition.

How long does it take for a pet to recover from TPLO surgery?

Although each patient is different, we notice that most of them need about 2 to 3 months to fully heal and recover from their surgery. This is a major procedure, and will require more time compared with other less-invasive operations like cyst removals, spays and neuters.
