At Bridgwater Veterinary Hospital and Wellness Centre, our Winnipeg vet offers a wide range of both kitten care and adult cat care services for your feline friend. We understand the unique needs that kittens have as they grow and develop, and our veterinary team is ready to help your new kitten get on the path to the healthiest and happiest life possible!
Health and Wellness Exams for Your New Kitten
Once you've brought your new kitten home, we encourage you to call our office and set up a health and wellness exam. These are important for establishing an overall baseline for your kitten's health and wellness while also allowing our veterinary team to get to better know your kitten (and vice versa!). During this initial appointment, we'll assess your kitten's size and weight, vital signs, coat health, and other important aspects of your cat's development. We can also make recommendations for meeting your kitten's nutritional needs and answer any other questions you may have about caring for your new kitten.
From there, we generally recommend follow-up wellness exams about once a year to stay on top of any changes in your pet's health.
Don't Forget About Kitten Vaccinations
You'll also need to make sure your new kitten stays up to date on all vaccinations. More than likely, your kitten has been recently vaccinated, but it's also likely your feline friend will need additional kitten shots within the next few weeks or months after adoption. At our office, we can provide all the kitten vaccines that your pet may need, including:
- Feline leukemia
- and more
If you're not sure when your pet is due for his or her next round of kitten vaccinations, you may be able to find this information on his or her adoption/vet paperwork. If not, that's okay. During your kitten's first wellness exam with us, our experienced veterinary team will be able to make recommendations on which vaccines your kitten needs and when. We can also provide you with an up to date vaccination schedule for your kitten so you never miss a vaccine.
Your kitten vaccinations cost can vary depending on which shots your pet needs, but we strive to offer competitive pricing on all of our services.
